Be clear in your mind in what you intend to achieve.
Achievement is not for the select few. Achievement is simply for those who never quit. It is for those who set goals. It is for those who put the most steps in front of the others. Achievement is for those who can overcome the greatest obstacle of all; their mind.
When you get to the point where all you want to do is be successful as bad as you want to breathe, then you will be successful.
Maybe right now you are struggling in your own day-to-day life. Feeling overwhelmed like it is just too much or maybe you have a great idea for a business you want to start or an innovation at your current job that people keep telling you, “It is not possible.” In these moments our minds are flooded with doubt. We ask ourselves questions like, “Should I give up? Is this even possible or why me?”
How do you turn the feeling of defeat into a success mindset? Those days you get disappointed, you get sad, you get upset, someone makes fun of you and also in all of your motivation and your focus, on your drive drains out with the disappointment. How do you turn it around? How will you respond? The first thing you have to remember is as soon as defeat strikes and it will. If you are chasing big missions, big purposes, things that really matter to you, you are going to have down days. You are going to have bad days. Allow that.
When you have a bad day allow that moment. Say, “You know what? Yeah. This is not the way I wanted it to go.” Then immediately shift into learning. Disappointment immediately goes away so you shift into learning. Everybody wants to be so pollyannaish or super positive and say, “Oh, there is no defeat. There is no failure.” Oh, no, there is failure. We should stop pretending that people do not fall on their face, feel bad and have bad days. Allow it.
Turn it into a question about: first, what did I learn about myself. Second, what would I learn about other people. Third, what did I learn about the world. Fourth, what can I do about it?
That is how you deal with the disappointments.
When you shift your mindset towards the positive you will quickly realize that there is a reservoir of untapped potential waiting to be released by you. So set a goal. Take the first steps.
Embed that long term goal in your mind, burn it into your soul. Think about it, write about it and talk about it. Hang it up on your wall but most important, do something about it. Do something about it everyday. Everyday do something that moves you toward that goal. That keeps the goal alive and insight and in focus.
Make it happen because that goal is not going to achieve itself. It is all on you.
